Watersong {Lara/Closed}

Chloe couldn't believe she actually visited Watersong without looking around for Lara when she and Sara went out for their celebrations. It actually wasn't until she read that issue of The Cove and saw the small article on Lara that she realized her mistake. (A. wow, that thing is still around? And B) much more forgiving gossip rag than Korean netizens, that's for sure.) Of course she wanted to see the matriarch, especially after being so disconnected from her siren culture for the better part of seven years. So she hemmed and hawed over what purse to take, settled on a bright coral one, and packed up a few trinkets given to her by fans.

Do you...do you give gifts to your matriarch? She's not even sure, but feels it's better to be safe than sorry. Her grandmother took the reins on most of Chloe's training, but she did join the group of preteens and children a few times who would practice on the beach with Lara and the other elders.

Arriving at Watersong, Chloe finds herself a little nervous. She's met by a man at the bar who offers her a coke and some crackers while he goes to check if Lara is available. She purses her lips, takes a seat on one of the barstools, and curses herself. She probably should have called ahead or made an appointment. Lara's a very busy woman and Chloe used to live by her planner, filled with interviews and shows her managers booked. And now she's nervous the woman won't even recognize her. Maybe she's so out of touch with her siren side, she won't fit in. She feels a little bit overwhelmed and, reaching over the bar to grab a bottle, she pours herself a shot and downs it in one quick motion.

You're Chloe fucking Choi, you can do this.

Prospecting {Sara/Open}

 Chloe's been back in Siren Cove going on a week now and she still hasn't found the right place to call home, despite her realtor's best efforts. Living in a hotel is fun...for about two days, and then it gets real old real fast. She feels like she can't fully unpack, in case she finds a residence she needs to pounce on, and her purses are suffering for it. Poor babies need to be displayed, not locked up in stuffy, but seriously cute, suitcases.

So today, she's hit the pavement again, taking it upon herself to walk around Siren Cove and call on buildings that catch her fancy. But does she want to be near the water? Or in town? Possibly in a more private area just on the outskirts? The possibilities and Chloe's indecisiveness are bringing on a headache when she spots a shop, unmarked with a giant FOR SALE sign painted across the windows. Chloe tilts her head, because this storefront is incredibly charming. It's really too bad it's a shop and not a condo of some sort. As she admires the craftsmanship, the store owner steps out, almost running smack into Chloe. The two get to talking, and soon she learns from the other woman that the store was a failed attempt at an all-natural, homemade bath and cosmetic company, with a healthy mix of magic. The woman gave up on the shop idea when she quickly ran out of funds before she could even create her first batch of soaps.

Chloe takes the woman's business card, tucking it away safely into her designer bag as she wanders off to her next stop: Quill. Standing in line to order a coffee and a snack, she pulls the woman's card out of her purse, flipping it over in her fresh mani.

"Hm...owning a business wouldn't be bad, right?" She has the money. She could invest. Or buy the business plan off the woman. It's tempting, exhilarating even, but is she ready for that kind of responsibility? She hums to herself, completely lost in thought as she weighs out the pros and cons.

ooc: This post is for Chloe and Sara to become business partners. But if you'd like to run into Chloe just for interactions, feel free. She'll be chillin' at Quill and open to meeting new and/or old friends!

{Plotting}

Hello! This is Chloe Choi. She was born and raised in Siren Cove, but left at 15 to pursue a musical career in Seoul. She's just moved back after being blackmailed out of the business (she's a siren :'( ).

A few facts to keep in mind:
  1. Chloe was raised by her grandmother who passed away when Chloe was 15.
  2. She pretty much cut ties with SC when she moved and became huge solo artist Chloë at the age of 19.
  3. She's a siren and proud. She subscribes to the current clan in Siren Cove, or at least she used to along with her grandmother, and sees Lara as her matriarch.
  4. She "retired" from fame after someone blackmailed her with evidence of what she ~really~ is. She won't admit it wasn't her choice to leave that life.
  5. She has an amazing voice y'all. And she'll be looking for a job that'll pay her to sing while she tries to get into St. B's.

Anyway, hit me up here for:
  • Specific plots you'd like to see between your character and Chloe.
  • Stating what relationship you'd like your character to have with Chloe: she's originally from SC so I'd love to see some old acquaintances.
  • Generally asking questions about Chloe that may be relevant to a current/future plot.

PS I'm on my phone so excuse any late replies ;3;

{About} Chloe

CHARACTER NAME: Chloe Choi
CHARACTER AGE: 22
SPECIES: Siren

BACKGROUND & HISTORY: Chloe Choi was born and raised in Siren Cove by her grandmother Amy Choi. She knows nothing about her mother and very little about her father, who is Amy’s son. Chloe doesn’t much care anyway, at least most of the time. Sometimes it does bother her a bit, but she quickly shoves those feelings aside. With her grandmother also a siren, Chloe grew up knowing her heritage and quickly learned to control her powers at a young age. Of course, being a siren, she has a killer voice, silky smooth and big.

After her grandmother passed away of natural causes when Chloe was 15, she decided to take a chance and move to Seoul, Korea where she auditioned with one of the biggest musical entertainment companies in the country. She was signed almost immediately and trained for four years, dancing, singing, giving interviews...the works. At 19, she debuted as solo artist Chloë. Between her beauty and her voice, Chloe was an instant sensation and become Korea’s sweetheart and almost everyone’s dream girl. Chloe gained success with every single she put out. She won many awards and appeared on a ridiculous amount of variety shows, constantly winning over the hearts of viewers with her wit and talent. Two years later, she made her acting debut in a TV series. Her acting was met with mixed reviews and Chloe decided to stick with what she’s best at - singing. And she did. She racked up, earning the most awards for a female solo artist to date.

Unfortunately, a few months ago, someone discovered Chloe’s secret about being a siren. She’s still not sure how they managed to do it, but the person had proof and threatened to expose Chloe for the “manipulative” creature she was. She immediately took offense, because although Chloe has always been proud of her siren heritage, she has never used her powers to gain popularity in the industry. She was trained enough by her grandmother to control that side of herself and became a success through her natural talents and hard work ethics, thank you very much.

Being a popular female idol in Korea has meant a fair share of rumours and gracing of the tabloid sites. Every time, Chloe kept her chin up and rose above the rumours with a powerful comeback. But this time, she was truly afraid of the inevitable backlash. Afraid for her safety, Chloe decided to make an executive decision and “retire” from the entertainment industry at 22. She didn’t tell anyone, her manager or “friends”, the true reason for her retirement. Instead, she put on an act and said it wasn’t for her any longer and that she was burnt out. She’s now returned to Siren Cove, hoping to apply for acceptance at St. Bernadette’s.

PERSONALITY: On the outside, Chloe Choi is a very extroverted and confident young woman. She knows what she’s good at and what she can accomplish. Chloe’s also business savvy. Seven years in the industry has taught her that blind trust gets you nowhere fast. Still, she’s very personable, friendly, and smart.

She doesn’t have time for misogyny after growing up in an industry where saying yes to men gets you everywhere, but saying no means your career is ruined. She faced the worst of the worst in this regard, told them to go to hell, and still managed to rise on top. Many tried to produce ridiculous scandals and started rumours, but Chloe always came back with a song that knocked those rumours to the ground.

Chloe will probably never admit to why she truly left Korea, so she’ll use her usual air of “everything is just as I planned” personality to answer any questions when she returns to Siren Cove. To the world, everything happens because Chloe Choi wants it to. In reality, her world is falling apart and she’s not exactly sure how the hell to handle it. She hit success at a young age, everything she touched turned to gold, and being “cast out” of the industry has left her more than a little lost. She pretends everything is okay even when her world is crumbling, just as she did with her grandmother’s passing. Chloe is a girl who has rarely had to face hardship, and if she can’t make a number one single of it, she has no idea how to handle it. Inside, she’s confused, lost, and a little like a teen stuck in a 22 year old’s body. Being away from the siren community for seven years has left her lonely and disconnected from her heritage, something she now doubts herself with. What if she’s not up to their standards of what a good siren should be?

She has an obsession with purses, aka her babies, and carries a different one almost daily. Don’t. Mess. With. Them.

Chloe’s lifespiration is Beyonce.

OPINION OF THE RIVALRY: Chloe is rather neutral, being a siren. Her priority is the safety of the siren community and will only care when the rivalry affects her community or her matriarch.

LIFESTYLE: Chloe is sitting on a nice chunk of change from her time in the industry. Unfortunately, it’s not nearly as much as she should have earned. But that’s how the cookie crumbles for an idol. She wants to use this money to pay for tuition to St. Bernadette’s and hopes to get a part-time job singing somewhere while she studies music and international law.

POWERS & ABILITIES: Being a siren, Chloe has a beautiful singing voice. She can use her voice to persuade others to do her bidding, although she has very rarely been pushed to do this before, mostly to get creeps to leave her alone. Her grandmother taught Chloe how to control her powers, so she is able to pull back the draw of her siren song while she performs. The only time her powers come out is in her writing. Chloe’s channeled her abilities into writing songs that are compelling and powerful, including her first hit Heaven. The power, emotion, and inspiration Chloe exudes in music can be traced back to her ancestry as a siren. It allows her to tap into songs in a way that’s truly amazing.

As for her siren form, Chloe’s colours and shape will remind others of the black lionfish. Her scales are primarily black with white stripes and tendrils that come out when she feels especially threatened in siren form. These tendrils are poisonous to the touch and something Chloe has a hard time controlling since they only appear when she’s seriously scared and in protective mode. It’s been a long, painful time since she last let herself relax and fully shift into her siren form.
